1.吃大闸蟹
对大闸蟹的钟爱并非今人独有，古往今来，月下指螯赏菊的佳话不胜枚数。《浮生六记》中，清朝的苏州人沈复与陈芸夫妇，就曾在秋日租下一间种满菊花的屋子，在院中吃蟹弄菊。可见大闸蟹的魅力无人可挡，江苏人对蟹之钟情也万古如一。
2.煮汤圆
秋分这一天，农民都按习俗放假，每家都要吃汤圆，并且还要煮上十多只实心汤圆，用细竹叉扦着置于室外田边地坎，名曰粘雀嘴儿。把汤圆挨个戳在竹竿顶端，端进自家田埂里，希望糯米做的汤圆，能黏住贪嘴雀儿的嘴，让它今后不敢再来。

3.放风筝
秋分期间还是孩子们放风筝的好时候，江苏地区这个时候气候宜人，风力适中。尤其是秋分当天。甚至大人们也参与。

4.竖蛋
