As one of the largest jellyfish on Earth, the ghostly giant has a bell that measures more than 1 meter across and four ribbon-like oral arms that can grow more than 10 meters in length. According to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, the giant phantom jellyfish was first discovered in 1899, and since then scientists have only encountered it about 100 times.
